I work with the Nazarene denomination in church planting. The story is a long one and I’d like to be able to share it in person with you. At some point (hopefully sooner than later) I will post a link to an eBook that will provide the long story if you are interested in the details. Or if you’re not a reader, I’d love to share it in person with you as long as you’re not in a hurry.
Suffice it to say that after 34 years in ministry, I came to a personal “truth precipice“. My wife faithfully journeyed with me to this place. God, in His own way was directing and preparing both of us. Our choice was to step ahead in faith or simply to retreat and coast out. We laid everything we were and had, on the line and chose to trust God. Those who do this sort of thing are never really surprised that God can be trusted. We walk in this trust today.
I discovered www.organicnazarene.net through social media. Within the next two years, I transferred my ministerial credentials to the Church of the Nazarene. We sought a simpler way to be the Church and everything has changed in terms of the way that we live this out.
The following video explains it well:
Our church home is the Sherwood Church of the Nazarene. They refer to Elaine and I as Zone 3 pastors. Sherwood Church of the Nazarene is a cell church pastored for over 30 years now by Rev. David Filsinger. It is one of the very few churches I know that give me hope on terms of what the church ought to be.
For now, I am going to stop here and just say that I would love to talk to you if you find yourself in a place where you are desperate for something new. In this day, we need to rediscover what it means to become spiritual pioneers. Though some churches seem to be growing by the numerical scorecard, overall we are increasingly marginalized. All of us are called an we have a place to serve. We serve where we live and work, 24/7
Send me an email if you’d like to discuss.
